Occupational Therapy

St. Mary’s Occupational Therapy department uses a multi-faceted approach to improving children’s physical, cognitive, visual, and emotional functions. Offering a variety of creative, fun and sensory-processing activities, therapists focus on helping children achieve independence in all areas of their lives while preparing them for their Activities of Daily Living, such as playing, attending school, dressing and feeding themselves, brushing their teeth, bathing and other basic tasks. Focusing on fine motor skills, hand/eye coordination and visual-perceptual skills, therapists work hand in hand with children and their families to help each child maximize their skills and abilities, while teaching them how to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle, enhance their confidence and gain a sense of accomplishment.
