Emceed by Z100’s Danielle Monaro and 106.7 lite fm’s Christine Nagy, the event celebrated St. Mary’s Kids and the generosity of students of The Lowell School who donated a karaoke machine to support the We Believe in Music Campaign, a project to build a music environment at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children as part of the New Patient Pavilion.
“Events like today allow us to celebrate each of the many special children here at St. Mary’s,” said Jeffrey Frerichs, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children. “But more importantly, it gives our kids a chance to forget about their complex medical conditions and just be kids, which is vital to their recovery.”
This past year, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment New York teamed up with St. Mary’s to launch the We Believe in Music Campaign to create a music-themed space featuring music memorabilia, a recording studio, DJ booth, iPod download station, karaoke machine and much more, all that will create a healing and rehabilitative environment to help St. Mary’s Kids recover and thrive.
“We have had the great pleasure of working with St. Mary’s over this past year and our experience with these children has been incredible,” said Joe Puglise, President and Market Manager of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment New York.
In response to St. Mary’s and Clear Channel New York’s We Believe in Music campaign, seventh graders of The Lowell School’s and teacher Christine Bargellini’s, with additional help from its Student Government, spent this school year raising funds through the sale of original art-designed bookmarks, food and bake sales, to purchase a karaoke machine for St. Mary’s Kids. During the party, ambassadors from the school including staff and students were on hand to present St. Mary’s with this generous gift of music for the kids.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the karaoke party at St. Mary’s and help bring a smile to the faces of so many children,” said Dede Proujansky, Executive Director of The Lowell School. “The Lowell School has had a long standing relationship of giving with our friends at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, and today’s event was another way for our students and staff to get involved with this great cause.”
Children at St. Mary’s are battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions due to serious illness, injury and complications of premature birth. Events such as the Karaoke Party help bring each of St. Mary’s kids towards their goals of rehabilitation.
