“St. Mary’s provides a lifeline to patients and their families who need that extra support to help them manage their child’s care,” says Sergio Suarez, a Central Orders Unit Supervisor for St. Mary’s Home Care.
As a Central Orders Unit Supervisor, Sergio is on the frontline of St. Mary’s, interacting with patients and their families, physicians, clinical and office staff and ensuring our patients receive high quality services from St. Mary’s Home Care, our Certified Home Health Agency. His job also entails ensuring physician orders are secured in a timely manner to ensure continuity of care for patients and regulatory compliance for agencies including the Department of Health.
Sergio feels that the staff at St. Mary’s take its mission to heart. On a daily basis, he witnesses fellow staff members work tirelessly to improve the health and quality of life for children with special needs and their families.
The most memorable experience for Sergio was with a patient that was unable to make it to a medical appointment because her mother had undergone surgery and was unable to accompany her. Sergio made all the necessary calls to secure help for this patient to make her appointment. It was highly rewarding for Sergio when the mother called to show her appreciation for him going above and beyond to help her child.
