It all started for Melissa Coppola about 7 years ago when her sister was completing service hours at St. Mary’s for her Girl Scout Silver Award Project. Melissa was invited to visit St. Mary’s with her sister and that one visit changed her life forever. “I walked through the doors of St. Mary’s and remembered just falling in love with the children, staff and the facility” said Melissa. After her sister completed her service hours, Melissa felt like she needed to do more. Melissa contacted St. Mary’s Hospital for Children to schedule monthly volunteer visits with St. Mary’s Kids. She gathered her friends and family members and started carrying out fun events for St. Mary’s Kids, such as craft projects, Zumba and dance parties.
St. Mary’s Hospital for Children has a special place in Melissa’s heart. She looks forward to continuing to volunteer at the hospital, and St. Mary’s Kids look forward to Melissa’s visits every month.
