“Jacky is incredible. She’s always working hard and never gives up. She loves to have fun and make others smile.”
Jacqueline joined St. Mary’s medical day healthcare program in 2016 when she was 21 years old and it’s made a huge impact—not just on her health and quality of life, but to her family, as well. She says her mom is so happy she’s at St. Mary’s because she sees how happy Jacky is—and that’s our most important goal. Jacky has difficulty moving and speaking, and also tires easily, but that doesn’t stop her from working hard every day/other day/week in speech, occupational and physical therapy. It’s this commitment to healing that has led to her increased upper body strength and ability to sit up on her own—a major achievement!
Jacky doesn’t let her difficulty with speaking get in the way of socializing with her friends at St. Mary’s. Using her communication device and sign language, she spreads joy to others and shares her infectious laughter. The only thing she loves more than talking to her friends and listening to music is coming to St. Mary’s, where she always feels at home.
