St. Mary’s Hospital for Children was pleased to host the fall quarterly meeting of The Asthma Coalition of Queens on Tuesday, September 12th. St. Mary’s and the Asthma Coalition have worked collaboratively since 2014 to ensure that the burden of asthma is reduced among children living in Queens and throughout the other NYC boroughs. During the meeting, The Coalition provided updates and two special presentations about asthma. Robert Silverman, MD, Krasnoff Quality Management Institute, Northwell Health, presented a report on The State of Asthma in Nassau, Queens and Suffolk Counties and Dr. Alex Federman, MD, MPH, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai presented “An Innovative Program to Identify and Address Barriers to Self-management among older adults with Asthma”. Meeting attendees included physicians, clinicians, case workers, and members from local community based organizations.
