February is National Recreation Therapy Month. Our Therapeutic Recreation team celebrated all month long with various activities including a Valentine`s Day bake sale, a visit from Princess Ariel from @momentofmagicfoundation, and the resident`s favorite, throwing pies at staff while enjoying dipping fruits in a chocolate fondue fountain.
Recreation therapy utilizes recreation, leisure, and other activities and play interventions to help our children improve their physical, cognitive, spiritual, social, and emotional functioning and well-being. At St. Mary`s our goal as recreation therapists is to ensure that all residents participate in fun and fulfilling activities while teaching them that anything is possible. ❤

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Norman Feinberg, a dedicated former trustee of St. Mary`s Healthcare System for Children. Norman was an advocate for our mission, generously giving his time and leadership to help improve the lives of children with special healthcare needs. Norman served on St. Mary’s Board of Directors from 1998 until 2019 and held the esteemed role of Chairman of the Board from 2003 to 2006. His unwavering commitment, kindness, and dedication left a lasting impact on the St. Mary`s community, and his legacy will continue to inspire us. 💙
