Inpatient Care

St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children provides complex medical and intensive rehabilitative care for children with special needs in two inpatient facilities located in Bayside, Queens, and Ossining, Westchester. St. Mary's inpatient programs and services are designed to provide the most sophisticated treatment modalities that address all aspects of the healing process complete with bilingual support. Multidisciplinary teams of pediatric specialists in medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, psychology, social work, and child development coordinate each child's individualized care plan to ensure optimal outcomes.

Populations We Serve
Our inpatient facilities treat children from birth to 18 years of age who require post-acute medical care and/or rehabilitative therapy, combined with psychological and developmental interventions when necessary.

The children we serve have a range of medical needs that include, but are not limited to:

asthma   nutritional disorders
complications of prematurity   post-acute burn treatment
congenital heart disorders   post-surgical rehabilitation
feeding disorders  

pre-transplant and post-transplant care

genetic disorders   shaken baby syndrome

HIV/AIDS

  short-bowel syndrome
medical complications of morbid obesity   sickle cell disease
neurological, respiratory, orthopedic disorders   spina bifida
newly diagnosed or noncompliant diabetic care   traumatic brain injury and coma recovery
