A Total-Healing Environment
From the colorful windows in the main lobby to the state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, every detail of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children plays an integral part in a child’s healing. This open, playful therapeutic environment was designed to enhance the healing process by surrounding the children with nature and encouraging interaction.
St. Mary’s campus was designed to be a home away from home for children whose average length of stay is 6-9 months. The Children’s Pavilion includes four patient neighborhoods that house generously-sized patient rooms, floor to ceiling views of Little Neck Bay in each Great Room, an abundance of natural light, and a personal entertainment and education console at each bed. The use of contemporary art throughout the facility encourages healing through expression and creativity.
The Education & Family Pavilion is home to a variety of educational and therapeutic programs including our onsite New York City public school for inpatient children; St. Mary’s Pediatric & Young Adult Day Healthcare Program; and St. Mary’s Preschool for children with medical complexity in the Queens Borough Helen Marshall Early Education Center.
