Seating and Mobility for Pediatrics

Date: Sunday, April 11 and Monday, April 12, 2010 – 8:30AM-5:00PM

Location: St. Mary’s Hospital for Children Directions

Target Audience
This course is offered to pediatric Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists who wish to improve their ability to evaluate and recommend appropriate seating and mobility devices for children.

Educational Objectives
  1. The therapist will have a full appreciation for how seating relates to health, function, and social/emotional development.
  2. The therapist will be able to recognize when a seating evaluation is needed, and troubleshoot problems for immediate issues.
  3. Therapist will have the ability to perform a comprehensive seating evaluation.
  4. Therapist will be able to discuss the features needed on a mobility system, based on their evaluation findings.
  5. Therapist will understand the role of the vendor and what can be expected from the vendor.
  6. Therapist will be able to write a clear and effective letter of justification.
  7. Therapist will be aware of some special features for specific patient populations.
