Gary Segal is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Five Star Electric Corp., one of New York City’s premier electrical contractors. Gary was born and raised in Brooklyn, graduated from Syracuse University in 1981, and worked his way up through his small family business immediately thereafter.
In 1991, after the sudden death of his father and the Company’s founder, Gary took over the reins of Five Star Electric. He took the 35 employee company and grew it into the 1700 employee organization it is today. Under Gary’s leadership, Five Star became the largest union electrical contractor in New York, and was recently ranked #10 in the country by Engineering News Record. Gary is on the Board of Directors of the Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry, New York Electrical Contractors Association, Subcontractors Trade Association and NY Building Congress Foundation. Gary also sits on several committees such as YMCA and Boy Scouts of America; and he has been honored by Israel Bonds, UJA, Boy Scouts, Contractor for Kids, and the Heather on Earth Foundation, which is affiliated with Schneider Children’s Hospital and Maria Ferari Children’s Hospital.
Gary is a long-time supporter and friend of St. Mary’s making him a very fitting honoree for this construction industry event. St. Mary’s is pleased to honor Mr. Gary Segal!
