St. Mary’s Jockey & Horseman’s Ball Honoring Champion Jockey, Ramon Dominguez
Join St. Mary’s in honoring champion Jockey, Ramon Dominguez at St. Mary’s Jockey & Horseman’s Ball on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY, raising funds & awareness for St. Mary’s kids.
Ramon was named the #1 Jockey in the United States and is the recipient of the 2010 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey. A native of Venezuela, he began riding horses at age 16 in show jumping and then turned to riding thoroughbreds in the United States in 1995.
Ramon’s first encounter with St. Mary’s was in 2009 when he paraded onto the field at Aqueduct for the start of a race and saw four of St. Mary’s remarkable children – Elizabeth, James, Kaitlin and Daquana – in the Winners Circle. After the race, he rushed over to meet the children and has been St. Mary’s champion ever since.
