New York Racing Association
On Sunday, September 30th, 2012, with support from the New York Racing Association (NYRA) and the thoroughbred community, St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, New York’s leading provider of long-term care for children with special needs, will host its 2nd Annual Jockey and Horseman’s Ball atBelmontPark honoring Charlie Hayward, President & CEO of NYRA.
This 2nd Annual event precedes an extraordinary event last year which garnered the attention of over 100 thoroughbred enthusiasts who showed their support for St. Mary’s Kids. The night included dancing, auctions, raffles, and prizes- all to benefit some of the region’s most seriously ill and injured children.
This year’s anticipated event will also celebrate the continued partnership between NYRA and St. Mary’s to support ongoing efforts to provide intensive rehabilitation and specialized care for children and families with special needs and life-limiting conditions.
“It’s an honor to be a part of such an extraordinary organization that cares for New York’s children and families the way St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children does,” said Charlie Hayward. “It is a privilege to be chosen as this year’s honoree especially after such a successful event last year and I’m proud the New York Racing Association continues to support a great cause. I’m looking forward to a wonderful evening.”
“St. Mary’s is grateful for the ongoing support from our friends at NYRA and the thoroughbred racing community at large,” remarked Jeffrey Frerichs, St. Mary’s President and CEO. “Last year’s inaugural event was so successful that we’re back for an even bigger and better event this year and we’re happy to be working together, improving the health and quality of life for children with special needs.”
