Child Passenger Safety

Today in the United States around 1000 infants and children will be injured in auto crashes – some fatally. Research has shown that properly installed car seats can dramatically reduce the risk of serious injury for children in a crash.

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is addressing this public health issue by creating a FREE car seat fitting station, the only such program in Queens. Certified child passenger safety technicians are available to answer questions and teach parents and caregivers how to properly install their child’s car seat. The service is for available for both typically developing children and children with special transportation needs.

•  A car seat fitting station is offered once a month at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside.
•  Appointments must be scheduled.
•  For further information or to make an appointment call: (718) 281-8571.

This program is f unded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with a grant from the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
