Call to Action: Ask Legislators to Support Medically Fragile Children
It’s a critical moment for New York’s most vulnerable children. Today, 1 in 5 kids has a special healthcare need, a ratio which equates to 800,000 children in New York alone. As medical advances allow children to survive serious illnesses and injuries, this number will continue to grow. We need to make sure that New York State recognizes the unique needs of this special population — that’s where you come in.
- The State budget is about to close. We need to make sure that language is included that protects our special kids.
- The Senate is proposing an amendment to Public Health Law (Section 2804–b) that would form a workgroup of pediatric care providers — including home care agencies, nursing homes, diagnostic and treatment centers — to ensure these kids continue to receive the care they need throughout their lifetime.
- The Assembly has drafted a bill that includes a similar provision, but the language is not as comprehensive.
Please sign the online petition to the NYS Assembly Health Committee and ask them to support the language in the Senate’s bill.
Please take 30 seconds to help NY’s sickest kids and electronically sign the petition today.
Thank you for all you do for St. Mary’s Kids.
