Pediatric Disaster Coalition and Pediatric Surge Planning

St. Mary’s is one of 10 pediatric facilities working with Michael Frogel, MD, Co-Principal Investigator of the New York City Pediatric Disaster Coalition to determine key aspects of the city’s pediatric disaster plan. The plan has resulted in changes to field triage protocols, designation of Tier I and Tier II Pediatric Disaster Ambulance Destinations (PDAT), and the use of a Pediatric Intensivist Response Team to organize and prioritize secondary transports. Dr. Frogel also described current work leading up to a May 2017 functional exercise that will involve PDAT hospitals, Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM), and others
