During the 2015 holiday season, supporters and advocates for St. Mary’s Kids showed up in their numbers to spread holiday cheer and encourage the patients at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. Numerous community groups, local businesses, corporations, sports teams, churches, schools and other committed individuals visited the children with large toy donations and gift items. Many groups also treated the children to special holiday celebrations with music, dancing, entertainment and holiday-themed arts and crafts activities.
St. Mary’s Kids were particularly pleased when Nick Cannon, St. Mary’s Board Director visited with a group of executives and talent from MTV/MTV2. The MTV group spent time playing games and dancing with the young patients. The children also enjoyed a special breakfast courtesy of the Hard Rock Café, where they dined in fine style and got an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Another holiday highlight involves Council Member Paul Vallone who teamed up with his group of student ambassadors for the second year in a row to organize a toy drive for St. Mary’s. The students partnered with local sporting teams and schools to collect hundreds of new toys that were personally delivered to the children.
St. Mary’s would like to thank all the groups and individuals who took the time during the holidays to show kindness and love to St. Mary’s Kids. This includes the NYPD-Brooklyn North Warrant department, FDNY, JPMorgan & Chase, Caremed Specialty Pharmacy, Omnibuild Construction Company, Clear Channel Outdoor, The Friends of St. Mary’s Committee, Bayada Home Health Care, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Knights of Pythias, St. Paul School of Nursing, Thomas A. Edison High School, Bayside Kiwanis, New York Islanders, Metro Childrens’ Services and St. Nicholas Girls Scout Troop. Thanks also to Mike and Dan Bouloukos for their generous gesture of setting up an elaborate, enchanting holiday display that graced our lobby and delighted all visitors and patients.
