2015 Walk for St. Mary’s Kids unites hundreds of supporters and families to support St. Mary’s Kids

Event raises close to $75,000 to support the program and services to help children with special need

Crocheron Park, located in Bayside was a the place to be for family-fun on Sunday, May 31 when hundreds gathered for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children’s 10th Annual Walk to raise funds and awareness for children with special needs. The event is expected to raise $75,000 to support St. Mary’s Kids. The event included a ½ mile and a 2 ½ mile route around the Park and was led by six St. Mary’s Grand Marshals–Nicholas, Penelope, Raul, Anthony, Brendan, and Valentin.

The event united community leaders, local businesses, patients, families and friends who wore vibrant t-shirts to represent their individual teams as they walked to support a worthy cause. This year’s Walk teams and individual participants were energetic and dedicated.

“The Walk is an opportunity for the community to come together to raise funds and awareness for NY’s children with special healthcare needs. It’s a day to celebrate all our courageous children,” said Dr. Eddie Simpser, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children.

The event was sponsored by Turner Construction, Astoria Bank, Farinella, Kitchen Kitties, Royal Waste, Applebee’s (New Hyde Park) and Panera (Bayside).
