William Mead Appointed Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer of St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is pleased to announce the appointment of William L. Mead, MBA, CPA, as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.  In this role, Mr. Mead will be responsible for guiding the organization’s operational and financial management through today’s rapidly shifting healthcare environment.

Mr. Mead joins St. Mary’s from Catholic Health Services (CHS) of Long Island, a $2.5 billion healthcare system that operates six hospitals, three skilled nursing facilities and home care and hospice services, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President & CFO of Physician Services.  As a senior member of the CHS leadership team for over 13 years, Mead served in various executive positions, including CFO of Continuing Care Division, CEO and President of Home Support Services, and COO of Nursing Sisters Home Care.

Mead comes to St. Mary’s with more than twenty years of experience in healthcare, specifically in operations and financial oversight of large, multi-entity organizations.  He began his career as the National Director of Planning and Development for Beverly Enterprises, one of the nation’s largest long-term care providers with 700 nursing facilities at the time.  From there he went to Adventist Health System in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he managed the company’s $35M High Tech Services business.

Mr. Mead received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Virginia and a Master of Business Administration from Lewis University in Illinois.
