St. Mary’s Dedicates Laborers Care Nursery Great Room

Over 20 officials from the building trades join St. Mary’s Kids, Staff and leadership for ceremony

Over two dozen top professionals and officials from the building trades, including Mason Tenders and Local 79  visited St. Mary’s Hospital for Children for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the Great Room on the Nursery Floor today. This event commemorates the Laborers Care Campaign for St. Mary’s— which highlights the Mason Tenders and Laborers Local 79 long-standing partnership and commitment to St. Mary’s Kids.

Dr. Edwin Simpser, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children expressed his gratitude to the group for their ongoing generous support. He shared, “St. Mary’s take care of babies coming straight out of neo-natal intensive care units, some of our babies are born prematurely and others have genetic and other medical problems. The support we receive from generous groups like you plays a vital role in our ability to continue to offer top-quality services to the children and families we serve. Thank You.”

On behalf of St. Mary’s, Dr. Simpser also thanked the Mason Tenders District Council of Greater New York; The Building Contractors Association; The Men and Women of Construction and General Building; Laborers Local 79; The Board of Directors of Tenders Inc. including Robert Bonanza, Steve Flanagan, Paul O’Brien, John O’Hare, Mike Prohaska, John J. Virga, and Richard A. Weiss.

In addition, St. Mary’s was honored to have Mr. Terry O’Sullivan, General President of Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) and Mr. Raymond Pocino, Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager Laborers’ International Union of North America in attendance.
