St. Mary’s Presents First Daisy Award for Outstanding Nursing

Last month, St. Mary’s Hospital for Children awarded the first Daisy Award to Teresa Mathew, RN. The Daisy Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care given by nurses every day.

Ms. Mathew was nominated for the Daisy award by a resident caregiver, fellow nurse and nurse educator. In presenting the award, Rona Schlau, RN, MSN, Chief Nursing officer of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children said, “Ms. Mathews has consistently met all the criteria for the Daisy Award which includes compassion, innovation, mentorship, clinical excellence, integrity and collaboration. She has been described to always have a smile and is always willing to help in any situation. She participates in the Nursing Professional Practice Committee and is working with other staff members to develop a resident /family education program for the care of their children. Thank you Ms. Mathew for all you do each and every day to care for the residents and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children and congratulations on your Daisy Award!”
