Queens Family Gives Back to Children with Special Needs and Makes Pledge to Become Yearly Supporter

Family Starts Walk Team for the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 20th

Debbieann and her husband Dennis Ragoonanan are always looking for a way to give back to the community. When she came across St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children while surfing the web one day, she was sure she had found an extraordinary charity and worthwhile cause to support.

Debbieann incidentally stumbled across St. Mary’s website, and with a little digging, found out about the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 20th at Fort Totten Park in Bayside, NY, a grassroots event to raise funds and awareness for children and families with special needs while celebrating a huge milestone in St. Mary’s history – It’s 140th Year Anniversary.

St. Mary’s began caring for New York City’s most vulnerable children in 1872 and since has become one of the premier providers of intensive rehabilitation, specialized medical care and education for over 4,000 children with complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

Debbieann immediately jumped onboard and formed a Walk team “Make a Difference.” Her 2-year old son, Christian is the savvy team leader who is helping his mom and dad solicit their friends and family to meet their goal of $500. The entire family has geared up and is eager to surpass their goal and go above and beyond.

“We are so vulnerable to children and when I saw the mission of St. Mary’s and what they were all about, I knew my family and I had to support this cause,” said Debbieann.

Debbieann and her family have pledged to make their involvement and contribution to the Walk a yearly one and are vested in St. Mary’s and all of its courageous patients and families.

“We are looking forward to helping to make a difference,” remarked Debbieann.

You can join Debbieann and her family, and thousands of others participants on Sunday, May 20th, at Fort Totten Park in Bayside for the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids.
