St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children Ranks Among New York’s Best by U.S. News and World Report

St. Mary’s Receives Perfect 15-Star Rating Based on Health Staffing, Nurse Inspections and Quality Measures

St. Mary’s Hospital for Children was ranked as one of New York’s top facilities for skilled nursing in a recent survey by U.S. News & World Report. The 97-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility and flagship of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children received a perfect 15-star rating in U.S. News & World Report’s 2011 Best Nursing Homes. St. Mary’s was one of only six facilities statewide to achieve this honor.

The survey by U.S. News & World Report profiles more than 15,000 facilities and ranks them by state, using data and quality ratings determined by the federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Service. Facilities are awarded one (worst) to five (best) stars in three categories: health staffing, nurse inspections, and quality measures. The total of all three elements determine an institution’s overall score, from one to fifteen stars. The rankings are updated quarterly and highlight facilities across the nation that provide high quality care.

“St. Mary’s strives to meet a standard of excellence in every facet of our comprehensive pediatric continuum of care, from inpatient services to home and community programs,” said Eileen Chisari, RN, St. Mary’s Senior Vice President and Administrator. “We are delighted to see our clinicians and staff recognized for their expertise and dedication to their field as well as to the children and families in their care.”
