Spirit Halloween Presents Another Year of Tricks and Treats for Young Patients of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children

Spirit of Children Hosts Festive Halloween Celebration for St. Mary’s Kids

On Tuesday, October 19, the children of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children were treated to a memorable Halloween celebration with costumes, decorations, pumpkins, and activities, all hosted by volunteers of the Spirit of Children Program.

Launched in 2006, Spirit Halloween created the Spirit of Children program to bring the joys of the year’s spookiest holiday to children in hospitals and rehabilitation centers who may not otherwise be able to join in the October spirit. Each and every year, Spirit’s volunteers come back to visit with the young patients of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children who are battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions due to serious illness, injury or complications of premature birth.

St. Mary’s kids get the opportunity to choose a costume of their choice from an array of their favorite animated life-like movie and TV characters, all generously donated by Spirit Halloween. With colorful faces and ecstatic smiles, St. Mary’s kids are enwrapped in the festive season and don’t have a worry in the sky. They are being normal kids, enjoying what is supposed to be “their’ holiday.

Toni Detzi, Senior Vice President of Spirit Halloween were one of the many volunteers who joined in arts and crafts activities with St. Mary’s kids, and helped to create a festive and auspicious celebration filled with the true Halloween spirit.
