NY Jets Darrelle Revis Takes Time Out From Playoff Push to Support St. Mary’s Kids

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children’s President and CEO, Dr. Burton Grebin, applauded New York Jets pro-bowl defensive back Darrelle Revis for taking time out from his busy playoff preparations to support some of the metro New York area’s most seriously ill and injured children.

Revis, who on Sunday, January 17, 2010 will help anchor the Jets’ vaunted defense against the San Diego Chargers, recorded a radio promotion this week for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children.

Dr. Grebin said, “Knowing that Darrelle would do this for our kids while he’s gearing up for the biggest game of his life is truly touching and a testament to the kind of caring man he is. I know the Jets will have an entire region cheering for them this Sunday but no one will be cheering louder than our St. Mary’s Kids.”

St. Mary’s is the metro New York area’s leading provider of post-acute care for children treating more than 4,000 children each day in the hospital or at home.

In the commercial, airing on radio stations beginning this week, Revis says, “My toughest friends aren’t football players – they’re St. Mary’s Kids. Imagine a child’s first step after an injury, or a premature baby reaching a first milestone. It’s enough to bring this football player to his knees.”
