Hogs & Heifers Make Yearly Holiday Visit to St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children

Bikers Toy Run Brings Loads of Toys and Generous Donations in Support of St. Mary’s Kids

It was over 20 years ago when a group of bikers calling themselves Hogs & Heifers made their way to the heart of Bayside to visit with some of New York’s most seriously ill and injured children battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

Their visit marked the beginning of newly created friendships and a heartfelt tradition.

The holiday season is here and once again over 100 bikers from Hogs & Heifers rounded up their motorcycles, got in formation, and rode into St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children bearing loads of holiday toys and surprises for St. Mary’s kids.

As soon as the young patients heard the engines revving, they knew their motorcycle friends had arrived. The children’s loud cheers for their friends demonstrated how much the yearly visit means to St. Mary’s kids.

As the kids anxiously awaited the grand entrance, they already spotted the truckloads of presents accompanying the group.

Also eager to meet their young fans, the bikers warmly greeted each and every youngster and spent the afternoon with patients and their families. St. Mary’s kids also get a chance to check out the custom and classic bikes – a favorite tradition they anxiously anticipate each year.

Besides the truckloads of toys, the bikers also arrived with a generous donation to support the innovative programs and services at St. Mary’s that are offered to over 4,000 children with special needs and their families in the New York Metropolitan area.
