Panera Bread Opening Benefits St. Mary’s Kids

Bayside Bakery-Cafe, “Earn Dough While You Eat” Program will Provide Funds to St. Mary’s Kids

Panera Bread is coming to Bayside. The doors of the bakery-cafe will swing open Tuesday, September 8th at 23-58 Bell Boulevard in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center. What makes its opening special is that on Monday, September 14th, thanks to a program called ‘Earn Dough While you Eat,’ a portion of all sales will be donated to help support the efforts of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children in Bayside. St. Mary’s provides intensive rehabilitation, specialized care and innovative treatments that help more than 4,000 young patients daily through a network of inpatient, home care and community-based programs.

“And, community is at the heart of Panera Bread,” says Greg George, Vice President of Operations for the Queens, Long Island and Staten Island bakery-cafes. “Panera believes strongly in giving back to the community and helping to support St. Mary’s good work on behalf of special needs children is one way we are getting involved,” he says. “We’re happy to offer St. Mary’s crucial funds that can help improve the health and quality of life for children who require specialized care.”

Panera Bread in Bayside will be open from 7 AM to 10 PM Monday to Thursday, 7 AM to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 7 AM to 10 PM on Sunday, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring hand-tossed salads, signature sandwiches, and hearty soups served in edible Sourdough bread bowls. Panera features a heart-healthy menu with no trans fat, and has a line of nutritious, all-natural, organic, whole-grain kid-friendly meals to please young taste buds. As the nation’s “bread expert,” Panera Bread offers a wide variety of specialty breads, along with bagels, pastries, baked goods, and hot and cold espresso beverages.

Guests, who are new to Panera Bread, will be delighted by the inviting ambiance of the bakery-cafe and the quality of its menu items. Here, you can spend a comfortable, quiet moment over coffee, meet with friends, share a meal with family or sit down with your laptop and enjoy free
Wi-Fi high-speed Internet access. But, Panera can be experienced off premise as well. Businesses, sports teams and clubs can enjoy a special catering option called Via Panera. Breakfast or lunch selections can be preordered and packaged “to go” for groups of five or more, complete with plates and utensils.

Locally, the Bayside bakery-cafe joins Panera Bread in Long Island City, Glendale and Little Neck. There are 18 bakery-cafes in neighboring Long Island, two in Staten Island and plans are presently underway to introduce Panera Bread to Brooklyn next year.
