Local Businesses Hold Community Events in Support of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children

Children of Bayside Hospital Treated to a Fun-filled Weekend

Local businesses are teaming up with St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, and joining both worlds to support a greater cause; children with special needs.

On Saturday, March 14th, St. Mary’s kids were invited to enjoy an afternoon of festivities at the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Breezes Brokerage in Flushing, Queens.

Owners, Jan and George Athanasopoulos raised over $1,000 at the carnival they hosted in honor of St. Mary’s kids, and in celebration of the grand opening of their new business. Bayside patients enjoyed a day of pony rides, face painting, clowns, and much more.

As long time supporters of St. Mary’s, Jan and George are always finding new ways to support St. Mary’s kids and are continuing in their efforts to help raise funds and awareness for children battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

The fun continued on, on Sunday, March 15th, when St. Mary’s kids showed off their bowling skills at a Pep rally at Whitestone Bowling Lanes hosted by Jackie and Warring Wong of Jackie Wong Realty.

For the past few years, Jackie and the “Walking Angels team,” have been donating their time and efforts to help support the annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids and Family Fun Day, and have raised over $1,000 to date.

Jackie and the Walking Angels host various events for St. Mary’s kids and organized the bowling pep rally to gather support for the 6th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 17th, at Belmont Park.

The Walk Angels are already planning for their next event and look forward to joining patients, families, and supporters at the Walk for St. Mary’s kids.
