St. Mary’s Staff Members Recognized for Milestone Service Anniversaries

Edwin Simpser, MD, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Honored for 10 Years of Service

Some were 5, some were 10, some were 20, and some were even 30.

These numbers represent the significant milestones of many of the employees of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, and the years of service and dedication they have each put into the Bayside hospital.

On January 7th and 14th, St. Mary’s staff members were honored at the Employee Service Recognition Awards Ceremony for their milestone service anniversaries achieved in 2008 and the first quarter of 2009.

As they gathered in the Children’s Activity Center surrounded by an assortment of delicious cakes and desserts, President & CEO, and program MC, Burton Grebin, MD, highlighted many of the hospital’s achievements beginning with it’s inception 137 years ago, and accredited the hospital’s success to the ongoing commitment of St. Mary’s staff.

Filled with pride, Dr. Grebin called out each employee’s names starting with the 5 year anniversaries all the way to 30 years of service, handing out pins to each recipient for their years of compassion and commitment in caring for St. Mary’s kids, some of New York area’s most seriously ill and injured children battling complex medical conditions.

Of the 131 awardees, a special recipient was recognized for his outstanding efforts in helping to distinguish St. Mary’s as a leader in pediatric healthcare, providing a continuum of care to 4,000 children and their families throughout the New York Metropolitan area.

Edwin Simpser, MD, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, was honored by Dr. Grebin for providing St. Mary’s with 10 years of landmark accomplishments that has helped to revolutionize care for children with special needs, raising the bar for excellence.
